Russia has urged the United States to expedite the process of granting agrément—a formal approval for the appointment of a new ambassador. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov emphasized the importance of this step, stating that the absence of a Russian ambassador in Washington is undesirable and hampers diplomatic dialogue.
Ryabkov highlighted that the timely appointment of a new ambassador is crucial for the normal functioning of diplomatic missions. "We would like this decision to be made as soon as possible," he said, underscoring that the lack of an ambassador complicates bilateral relations.
