Starting from July 1, the cost of parking on a number of streets in Moscow has changed. On 12 sections where the average occupancy was less than 50%, the tariff has been reduced. This will help balance the demand and redirect traffic flows, according to the city's Department of Transport.
The tariffs have also changed on 12% of the streets with paid parking, where the constant occupancy exceeded 80%. The Department of Transport noted that this will effectively relieve the most demanded areas, redistribute traffic, and reduce unnecessary driving by drivers searching for available spaces.
Additionally, starting from July 1, the tariffs have been adjusted for certain parking lots with barriers in the city center. For the 1% most occupied paid parking lots in the city center, including Ilyinka, Petrovka, Solianka, and Neglinnaya streets, the new hourly rate during the day will be 600 rubles, and 200 rubles at night. The Department of Transport explained that this adjustment is necessary because local residents do not have enough parking spaces.
From August 5, it will be easier for residents of another 88 street sections near popular establishments such as restaurants, business centers, and landmarks to find parking spaces near their homes. The Department of Transport emphasized that paid parking spaces are statistically vacated four and a half times faster than free ones.
