Starting soon, renting an e-scooter in Moscow will require users to verify their identity through the Mos ID system. This measure aims to improve safety, ensure accountability for traffic violations, and prevent minors from accessing the service. Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov emphasized that the new rule will help create a more responsible and secure environment for e-scooter users.
To complete the verification process, users will need a registered account on the mos.ru portal. Liksutov highlighted that this step will not only reduce accidents but also streamline the identification of individuals who violate traffic rules. Additionally, it will effectively block access to the service for children and teenagers, addressing concerns about underage riders.
The introduction of ID verification is part of Moscow's broader efforts to regulate micromobility services and promote responsible usage.
