Winter's Surprise: Moscow Braces for Heavy Snowfall

2026-02-24 // LuxePodium
Heavy snowfall expected in Moscow today, with significant accumulations and record-breaking snow levels.

Moscow is preparing for a significant snowfall today, with the capital expecting 3-6 millimeters of precipitation. While the northern regions will see less, the southern and western areas may experience heavier snowfall, with up to 9 millimeters possible.

The snow will be most intense during midday, from 1 PM to 5 PM, before gradually easing. However, the snowfall will continue into the night and Wednesday, with the cyclone not fully departing until early Thursday morning.

By the end of the day, snowdrifts will grow significantly: 2-4 centimeters in the north, 4-6 centimeters in the center, and 6-8 centimeters in the south. This follows a record-breaking snowfall earlier, the highest in 72 years, caused by the Balkan cyclone "Valli," which the city is still recovering from.
