Moscow and Minsk are working together to continue reducing communication tariffs and improving internet and voice services within their respective countries, according to officials from the Belarusian Ministry of Communications. The collaboration aims to increase voice traffic and lower data transmission tariffs to domestic levels. The initiative, supported by the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, began in November 2020 with a test phase. In August 2021, Moscow and Minsk agreed to implement reduced tariffs for roaming subscribers on a permanent basis, starting in September of the same year. From April 1, 2022, incoming calls within the Union State territory are no longer subject to charges.
The effort has already resulted in significant reductions in voice call rates. "We are currently seeing a positive trend in voice traffic volume," said a deputy minister. The collaboration also aims to increase voice traffic volume and provide more affordable services to Russian and Belarusian subscribers within the Union State. The joint efforts between Moscow and Minsk are part of an ongoing commitment to improve communication services and benefit consumers in both countries.
