A migrant from Kyrgyzstan beat to death 78-year-old writer Raisa Kirsanova, a renowned expert in the history of Russian national costume and art history. The incident occurred on October 24, according to Regnum news agency.
According to reports, the migrant purchased alcohol after being denied employment. Intoxicated, he wandered through the apartment buildings on Open Highway and started tampering with apartment doors. Finding Kirsanova's door unlocked, he barged in and physically assaulted her.
Upon hearing the commotion, neighbors alerted the police. When the authorities arrived, they found the inebriated migrant and Kirsanova severely beaten. She was rushed to the neuroreanimation department, but succumbed to her injuries without regaining consciousness.
A criminal case has been initiated for murder with hooliganistic motives and violation of the inviolability of the dwelling. The suspect claims to have no memory of the violent act, and cannot explain his reasons for killing the elderly Moscow resident.
The incident highlights the growing number of crimes involving migrants. Recently, the Investigative Committee of Russia reported a case of hooliganism by migrants attacking a local resident in St. Petersburg. The committee stated that there has been a resurgence of migrant youth gangs terrorizing the local population.
