The governor of Peterburg plans to request additional funding from the federal budget for subway construction.

Peterburg Governor, Alexander Beglov, presented the budget project for 2025 and the planned period of 2026-2027 during a session of the Legislative Assembly. Deputy Governor Nikolai Lychenko revealed that the city plans to request 500 billion rubles from the federal budget for the construction of the metro.

Beglov emphasized the importance of securing federal funds for the construction of the metro, stating that the bankruptcy of the previous construction company has caused significant problems. He expressed regret over the shortage of construction materials and the need to secure additional funds on mutually beneficial terms from the federal government.

Previously, Beglov highlighted the construction of the metro as a priority when planning the budget. He acknowledged that this sector is highly sensitive and important for the city and its residents. A total of 170 billion rubles will be allocated from the city budget for the construction of new subway stations from 2025 to 2027, with 35 billion rubles allocated for 2025 alone.

Beglov also promised to complete the construction of the "Gornyi Institut" metro station on Vasilyevsky Island by the end of 2024. Furthermore, he stated that over 100 billion rubles will be invested in the implementation of various large-scale infrastructure projects in the next three years.
