Novosibirsk has achieved a remarkable feat in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) by producing the highest number of winners in the AI Challenge competition, after Moscow and St. Petersburg. The winners were honored at the AI Journey conference, which focused on the world of AI. The AI Challenge, organized by Sber and the AI Alliance, aimed to improve young talents' AI skills and contribute to the advancement of technology for the benefit of humanity. This year, participants competed in three different categories of varying difficulty, enabling individuals with different levels of knowledge and skills in AI to showcase their abilities in solving real-world business problems using AI solutions. Through a partnership with the AI Alliance and leading Russian universities, Sber is creating new opportunities for the development of talented young professionals at an international level in Russia.
The competition featured real-world tasks that technology businesses currently face. The challenges were developed by teams and partners of Sber, as well as companies within the AI Alliance. In addition to Novosibirsk, the Kuzbass region also ranked among the top regions with the highest number of winners.
The winners of the AI Challenge 2024 "Explorers" track not only received a monetary prize but also gained the opportunity to participate in a unique educational program offered by the AI Alliance and the Central University. As a result of this program, a Russian school team will be formed to compete in the International AI Olympiad (IOAI) in China from August 2-10, 2025. The winners of the AI Challenge will also receive various benefits, including grants for education from leading Russian academic partners of the competition, such as Innopolis University, the Central University, and ITMO University.
