In Moscow, a new trend has emerged at corporate parties - hiring fortune tellers and astrologers. This year, these professionals have become the highlight of corporate celebrations, with both office workers and top management, primarily men, wanting to know their future. "MK" magazine spoke to fortune tellers in Moscow to find out what the working population wants from them.
Sofia, a tarologist, offers fortune telling and rituals that are said to be effective only once a year - during the New Year. In late December, the prices for her services increase dramatically. She charges 160,000 rubles for a group of up to 40 people. For this price, Sofia promises to read tarot cards and answer three questions for each employee. She also offers talismans and conducts money or love rituals. Sofia even has a magical costume - a black cloak and a headband. However, she refuses to dress up as a carnival magician, stating that she is a real fortune teller, not a clown.
Another fortune teller is willing to attend corporate parties for a lower price of 16,000 rubles as long as her travel expenses are covered. She offers tarot card reading and the fulfillment of wishes throughout the year. She acts as a simultaneous performer alongside the program host, providing tarot and rune readings. She suggests that colleagues take photos of the readings and try them out at home.
While some fortune tellers like to delve into deeper and more mysterious practices such as rune readings, they prefer not to discuss such practices during the New Year celebrations. However, they are willing to perform rituals that require sacrifices to ensure the company's success. They ask jokingly if the boss is able to kill a rooster. After thinking it through, they decide that it is not necessary.
During the Year of the Snake, it is also possible to hire a live python or boa constrictor to attend corporate parties, as they are considered lucky. However, these options come at a higher cost, starting from 40,000 rubles. The owner of the snake claims that it is a rare opportunity that comes once every 12 years.
Despite these predictions and offerings, one fortune teller has warned that the current astrological alignment suggests potential conflicts and confrontations during corporate parties. To avoid uncomfortable situations, it is advised not to get involved in disputes with supervisors or bother female colleagues. Instead, it is recommended to simply enjoy the festivities.
While opinions may differ on the effectiveness of fortune telling, the demand for these services continues to rise. Whether it be tarot card readings, rune divinations, or encounters with live snakes, the trend of hiring fortune tellers at corporate parties seems to be here to stay.
