Archaeologists have discovered a significant collection of ancient artifacts in the center of Moscow. The recent excavations in the Chizhevskoye Podvorye area have yielded the largest collection of artifacts in recent times, according to the experts. Over 6,000 ancient objects were found on a 3,000 square meter area between Nikolskaya Street, Bogoavlenksy, Staropansky, and Bolshoi Cherkassky Lane.

The findings include glass bracelets, ceramics, and metal objects from the 12th and 13th centuries. Of particular value among the discoveries is a women's temple ring from the 12th century, a burial complex from the 16th century, and a rich collection of stove tiles from the 17th to 19th centuries.

During the excavations, ancient layers dating back to the 12th century, corresponding to the first mention of Moscow in chronicles, were also found and studied. The specialists also discovered over 300 fragments of ceramic vessels from the 12th and 13th centuries, providing valuable insights into the culture and traditions of pottery making during that time.

Each artifact undergoes a meticulous process of preservation. They are carefully cleaned, photographed, and then artists make sketches of them. The pieces are then handed over to restorers who try to reconstruct complete vessels from the small fragments. After all the necessary procedures, the artifacts will be transferred to museums.

The discovery of these ancient artifacts sheds light on the history of Moscow and provides valuable insights into the culture and craftsmanship of earlier eras. Visitors to Moscow will now have the opportunity to view these exceptional artifacts and learn more about the city's rich heritage.
