New Train Services for the New Year 2025: Schedule and Destinations

Additional trains have been launched for the New Year holidays, connecting Moscow, Novgorod, and Crimea. Find out more in this report.

For the convenience of passengers, additional train services have been introduced in St. Petersburg for those wishing to travel out of the city during the New Year holidays. Starting from January 1, 2025, the high-speed electric trains, known as "Lastochka," will run between St. Petersburg and Veliky Novgorod throughout the year on weekends.

The train number 7005, which departs from St. Petersburg (Moskovsky Station) to Veliky Novgorod, will leave at 10:10 am on Saturdays and Sundays, arriving at its destination at 12:53 pm. The train number 7006, traveling from Veliky Novgorod to St. Petersburg, will depart at 5:15 pm, make a stop at Obukhovo Station at 8:08 pm, and arrive at Moskovsky Station at 8:22 pm.

Four pairs of trains will operate year-round on the route "Moskovsky Station - Veliky Novgorod - Moskovsky Station" from January 1, with trains running on January 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, and then on weekends starting from January 11. In addition to these new train services, extra trains have also been launched between Moscow and St. Petersburg in anticipation of the New Year holidays.

Tickets for the high-speed "Sapsan" trains will be available at a reduced price of up to 2,000 rubles if purchased for economy class travel after 7:00 pm Moscow time on December 31 and January 1, 2025.

In addition to these new services, a new double-decker train called "Aurora" has started operating between St. Petersburg and Moscow. There is also a new daily service from St. Petersburg to Simferopol, with the train number 181/182 running on this route until April 24, 2025, and then resuming for the fall-winter season.

The train number 181, departing from St. Petersburg to Simferopol, will leave at 7:26 pm and arrive in Crimea the next day at 12:40 pm. The train number 182 will depart from the Republican capital at 6:40 pm and arrive in St. Petersburg at 12:57 pm on the following day. Both trains will pass through Tver, Ryazan, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, and Taman during their journey.
