Moscow has been named the leader in the quality of life among Russian regions, according to the rating compiled by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) based on the results of 2023. The top five regions, as announced by the CEO of ASI, Svetlana Chupsheva, at a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Agency, also include St. Petersburg, Tyumen Oblast, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, and Tatarstan.
The well-being of people is the most important criterion for evaluating the work of federal and regional authorities, emphasized Russian President Vladimir Putin during the meeting of the Supervisory Board. "I think it would be correct if the National Quality of Life rating, which is compiled annually by ASI, becomes the evaluation of the actions of the Russian government and the regions," he added.
According to the ASI website, the leaders in terms of growth dynamics in the rating were Volgograd Oblast, North Ossetia, Kemerovo Oblast, Primorsky Krai, and Ryazan Oblast. In addition to the top five, the top 10 of the rating also includes Moscow Oblast, Tula Oblast, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Sakhalin Oblast, and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
"Overall, the results of the 2023 rating show a positive trend in the field of education and creating opportunities for child development. For example, satisfaction with the process of enrolling a child in a kindergarten increased by 17.4%, in a school by 11%, and in clubs and sections by almost 20%. Satisfaction with housing conditions increased by 5.5%, and with the presence and equipment of park areas by almost 8%," noted Chupsheva. Experts from ASI, when analyzing the rating, point out successful management practices of regions that other entities can implement, she added.
