In the past year, Moscow has seen significant growth in its creative industries, with nearly 1.4 million people working in this sector. This accounts for 30% of the total workforce in the creative industries across Russia. The city has prioritized the development of creative entrepreneurship and has introduced various initiatives to support this sector. In the past year alone, Moscow has organized over 120 projects, including accelerators, competitions, fairs, and meetings with international buyers.
One notable initiative is the establishment of the first video game and animation cluster in Skolkovo. This cluster, set to launch later this year, will bring together all stages of production and promotion of video games and animation. Additionally, the city has launched the "Game Factory" accelerator, which has supported 20 teams in developing computer and mobile games of different genres.
Last year, Moscow also hosted the first Moscow International Film Week, which featured about 1,500 events, including film screenings, lectures, workshops, and creative meetings. These events attracted 600,000 attendees and resulted in four international and five domestic cooperation agreements.
Other notable events held in the city include the BRICS+ Fashion Summit and the Moscow Fashion Week, which collectively attracted around 150,000 attendees and garnered over 11 million views through live broadcasts.
In November, the Moscow government launched another program to support the creative sector called the "Creative Market." This program includes a series of fairs where visitors can explore and purchase products from local producers, such as books, clothing, footwear, souvenirs, home goods, toys, beverages, and sweets.
