One-year-old baby with extra finger undergoes successful surgery in Moscow

Surgeons at the Moscow Oblast Hospital have successfully operated on a child with a condition called polydactyly, where extra fingers grow on the hands or feet. The one-year-old baby underwent a surgical procedure known as Bilhault-Cloquet, which involves removing the excess bone and tissue of the duplicated finger and creating a single, functioning finger. The surgery will allow the child to have a normal finger and prevent any future complications.

The surgical intervention not only created an anatomically correct structure but also prevented the development of psychological complexes in the child later in life. Currently, the young patient has been discharged from the hospital and is feeling well.
