On June 6, 2024, Russia will celebrate the 225th anniversary of the great Russian poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. Numerous events have been prepared to commemorate this memorable date across the country. These events include literary evenings, performances, poetic salons, and museum exhibitions. However, we will focus on the most significant events in the places that are significant to Pushkin - Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Mikhailovskoye.
Pushkin was born in Moscow, but St. Petersburg became a source of creative inspiration for him. It was here that he studied at the lyceum, found prototypes for his characters, and tragically ended his life. Over 130 events will take place in the Northern capital, involving 28 theaters, over 60 libraries, seven museums, cultural centers, archives, and institutes. The anniversary program will start at the museum-apartment of A.S. Pushkin. The museum is located at 12 Moika River Embankment and will be open to visitors for free on June 6 from 10:00 to 18:00.
Cultural centers, libraries, and theaters in Moscow have also prepared a variety of events ranging from concerts and performances to quests and games. One of the main events is the exhibition "The Folk Poet. Pushkin and Folk Art" at the ROSIZO center in Moscow. Another thematic excursion, "The Russian Language Is Above All Pushkin," will take place on June 6 at VDNH, in honor of both Pushkin's birthday and Russian Language Day.
In Mikhailovskoye, in the Pskov region, where the Pushkins had their family estate and where he often visited and worked, the opening of the unique exhibition "Emotions of Nature, Nature of Emotions. Pushkin's Literary Landscape" will be the first big event on June 1. This exhibition presents the museum's collection through classical art and a wide range of multimedia tools. The Pushkin Poetry and Russian Culture Days will also take place in Pushkin Hills, Mikhailovskoye, and Pskov from June 6 to 9. The program includes various events with the participation of famous artists and cultural figures.
