Alexander Ilyin, a meteorologist from the "METEO" forecasting center, told NEWS.ru that on Tuesday, December 31, Moscow is expected to have temperatures ranging from zero to slightly positive values during the day. In the evening, an anticyclone will begin to influence the city, bringing colder weather. By midnight, the temperature in the capital may drop to minus 2-4 degrees Celsius, and in the region it may reach 2-7 degrees below zero.

A few hours before the New Year, there may be light snowfall in Moscow, according to Ilyin, but after the arrival of 2025, precipitation is unlikely. Therefore, according to the "Yandex.Weather" service, the temperature in the morning hours of December 31 is expected to be between zero and plus 1 degree Celsius. It will be one degree warmer during the day, and in the evening, the temperature will range from minus 1 to plus 1. At night, the thermometer will be within the range of minus 1 to zero. So, a warming up to plus 5 degrees is not expected.

By the morning of January 1, another wave of warm air will come from the west. The temperature will start to rise, and in the morning it will be around zero. There will be intermittent snowfall in some places. The weather will not change in the following days. A slight decrease in temperature is expected towards the end of the week, said Ilyin.

Colder temperatures of minus 7-12 degrees Celsius should be expected closer to Christmas in the Moscow region. The cold weather is likely to last for about three days. This period will start on January 6 or 7.

According to "Yandex.Weather", on the morning of January 1, the temperature will range from minus 2 to minus 1, during the day it will be from minus 1 to 1, in the evening it will be slightly warmer at 0 to plus 1, and at night the temperature will rise to plus 1 to plus 2. Throughout the day, there will be rain and snow.

On January 2, the temperature will mainly be below zero: during the day, it will be minus 1, in the evening and at night it will be from minus 2 to minus 1. There will be rain and snow in the morning, and light snow in the afternoon and evening, which will intensify at night.

On January 3, it will get noticeably colder: in the morning, the temperature will be from minus 4 to minus 3, during the day it will be from minus 5 to minus 4, and in the evening and at night, the temperature will be at minus 4. Snowfall is expected throughout the day.

On Saturday, January 4, in the morning there will be light snow and the temperature will be around minus 4, during the day there will be a snowfall with clearings, ranging from minus 4 to minus 3, and in the evening and at night there will be no precipitation, but it will be cloudy.

On January 5, in the morning the temperature will be from minus 5 to minus 4, during the day and in the evening it will be minus 4, and at night there will be a slight cooling, with the air temperature expected to be within the morning range. It will snow for most of the day.

Alexander Ilyin said that on December 31, thermometers will show 1-6 degrees Celsius above zero in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast during the day. Light snow is expected on New Year's Eve, with temperatures around zero. There may be slippery conditions with light frost. During the day, precipitation will fall in a mixed phase.

In the first few days of the new year, St. Petersburg will maintain a temperature of around zero. Freezing is possible at night during clearings, with temperatures dropping to minus 5.
