The Moscow-Kazan highway now has uninterrupted mobile communication as MTS has completed the construction and installation of telecom infrastructure along the M-12 "Vostok" federal highway. This 810 km highway now provides uninterrupted mobile communication for travelers, according to a press release from the company.
MTS has recently connected the remaining few LTE 1800 base stations, which provide seamless voice communication and high-speed mobile internet for subscribers along the highway and in multi-functional service areas such as gas stations, parking lots, rest areas, cafes, and shops. The company has connected a total of 177 base stations.
"Reliable communication and high-speed mobile internet along the entire highway not only facilitate communication, navigation, digital services, and entertainment on the go, but also ensure the safety of all road users. In the future, as the network expands, it will serve as the foundation for the implementation of Connected Car technologies and smart vehicles," said Inessa Galaktionova, MTS's First Vice President of Telecommunications.
MTS began the construction of base stations along the highway in September of last year and gradually launched the communication infrastructure on different sections of the road. The M-12 highway passes through five regions of Russia: Moscow, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Chuvash Republic, and Tatarstan.
MTS is currently working with the government and other telecom operators to develop plans for deploying mobile networks on new sections of the M-12 highway, specifically the Durtyuli-Achit route.
