Moscow faces slippery conditions as meteorologists predict icy roads and sidewalks.

Moscow is set to transform into a glistening, albeit treacherous, ice rink this Saturday, March 15. Meteorologists have issued a warning for residents: the city will be coated in a thin, slippery veneer of ice, turning every step into a potential adventure. The forecast paints a picture of a day where the mercury hovers between +3 and +5 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures are expected to plunge to a chilly -4 degrees.

In the surrounding Moscow region, the story is much the same, with daytime temperatures ranging from 0 to +5 degrees and nighttime lows dipping to -7. The wind, a capricious companion, will blow from the northwest and other directions at a modest 2–9 meters per second, adding a biting edge to the cold.

What to Expect:

Alexander Shuvalov, head of the forecasting center "Meteo," emphasized that the icy conditions could persist for a couple of days, urging Muscovites to tread carefully. Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, added that the cold spell is expected to linger into the following week, with temperatures remaining below freezing.

As the city prepares for this frosty forecast, residents are advised to equip themselves with sturdy footwear and a healthy dose of caution. After all, in Moscow’s winter ballet, the ice always takes center stage.
